Reconnect Lobo under 183A to Forest Oaks with a broad transition at the 183A Shared Use Path (SUP). Most of Lobo still exists and this wouldn’t require much work to be functional other than a small bridge over the drainage ditch.
North end of North Mustang: Add a ped/bike bridge connecting to Quest Park across the creek. Plenty of people already use this pathway, but it’s rough and not usable when it rains. Combined with the prior project this will make for an easy link from Quest Village to the 183A SUP and join the trail network.
Quest Park to 183A ped/bike trail – direct connection along the gas line easement/waterway, but along the North side of the creek instead of crossing it at Mustang. Great opportunity for the Cedar Park Wildflower Trail.
1431 from Discovery to 183A trail – South side of the road. Currently if you want to make this connection you have to cross 1431, cross both 183A frontage roads and cross back under 183A. Or just balance on a narrow ledge and then climb guardrails as I’ve seen some do.
1431 to Lobo along the West side of 183A. In conjunction with the Lobo connection, this will allow active transportation users the opportunity to entirely bypass having to cross both 183A frontage roads at 1431. This will increase motor vehicle throughput at this congested intersection.
183 corridor to Austin (1): Connect the 183A trail all the way to Lakeline, which means a direct connection to the Austin trails network. Combine with the frontage road project.
183 corridor to Austin (2): Connect from Destination Bell Boulevard along 183 to Lakeline, which again means a direct connection to the Austin trails network and also links up as a loop back into West Cedar Park along Lakeline.
Destination Bell Boulevard/183 realignment (1): Replace the sidewalks along the full East (railroad track) side of 183. We had a continuous sidewalk on the East side of 183 before the project and there is now a huge gap.
Destination Bell Boulevard/183 realignment (2): We need a bike/ped underpass from Park Place under both 183 and railroad track(s) so that the East side of Cedar Park can safely access DBB. There are USDOT CRISI grants for rail safety which could be applied for. Either along Park (preferred) or Glacier are obvious choices.
Connect Tree Line Park directly to the sidewalks on 1431, extend 1431 sidewalk as needed. Install bike lanes on Discovery This is already a main cycling route, just check the Strava Heat Map.
Connect Break Away Road from the Silverado Neighbourhood to Break Away Park. (Allows access to shops on Parmer/Ranch Trails without having to ride on Parmer)
Connect the Cross Creek Development to the 183A shared use path (this is being built now with a trail in the neighborhood but it appears it won’t quite connect)
Better connect the new SUP to adjacent retail at the SE corner of 183A and 1431. The SUP follows the edge of the parking lots, but there is not a single ramp along the entire length of the parking lots.
Similarly install a transition at the East end of the SUP for direct access to Lynnwood to replace the current curb jump.
General Issues that have been identified (an ongoing process we need your help with)
Citywide (1):Level up dropoffs along sidewalks and paths. Aim for a 3′ clear zone and no more than a 1/4″ dropoff and 5% slope where feasible.
Citywide (2): Identify and correct difficult crossings and transitions per the usability guidelines including grinding curb cuts smooth.
